Homestay in Stones Corner

Welcome. Enjoy a large, private room & verandah—overlooking nature—close to city, shops & campuses. :)

We invite you to stay in our family home.
We are a family of 4—Mum, and 2 daughters aged 15 and 18, a son aged 23, plus 3 dogs.

We seek another female to stay with us. We have a large bedroom available in a cosy flat in the upstairs of our home. You will share the flat with 1 other homestay student. Currently your flatmate is a young woman from China. She is studying at Griffith University.

Your room is furnished with a single bed, desk, lamp, wardrobe and rug.

Your bedroom opens out onto a long verandah which faces north and east. It looks out over the garden and neighbouring park. It is warm and sunny in winter, and cool and breezy in summer. This is a nice spot to relax and eat your meals at the table and chairs.

You share a kitchenette and a bathroom with your flatmate. The kitchenette is set up so you can cook your own meals. It has a fridge, rice cooker, convection microwave, induction cooktop and air-fryer.

Our house sits beside Hanlon Park. This beautiful inner city park has walking and bike tracks, a creek and plenty of wildlife. A great place to exercise or relax.

It is a short walk across the park to Stones Corner shops, cafes and Stones Corner bus station. In the other direction, it is 3 minutes to Buranda train station and Buranda busway. From Buranda there is quick access to University of Queensland, Griffith Uni, or the city (For QUT and other city campuses). We also connect directly to bike paths for riding to UQ, Griffith, Southbank or the City (10-15 minutes).

We are part of an active neighbourhood community, with regular visits from neighbours and friends.
My 18 year old daughter has special needs, so we also have many support workers in the house to assist with her care. We have 2 small friendly dogs—a 6 year old cavoodle and a dachshund puppy. My son has a larger dog that is shy and mostly hangs out in his room.

We lead busy lives. I work fulltime—half in the office, half from home. We are all coming and going from the house for various activities throughout the week, and sport and other activities on Saturdays and Sundays.

We are a friendly, creative family, and enjoy art-making, music and gardening. We grow a few herbs and vegetables in our garden.

PRICE— $295 for room and bills, including unlimited internet.
MEALS ARE NOT included—Self-catering in your own kitchenette.
LENGTH OF STAY—Minimum 12 weeks stay.
